Mulch volume and bag formula
A rectangular mulch bed is a shallow rectangular prism. BuildMeasure calculates its geometric volume first, then keeps your project allowance and package size visible.
A = length × widthNet volumeV = A × installed depthOrder volumeVorder = V × (1 + allowance ÷ 100)Complete bagsBags = ceil(Vorder ÷ bag volume)The example uses a 3-inch layer. EPA WaterSense describes three to four inches as suitable coverage for most plants, but the calculator never forces that depth. Enter the actual layer your planting plan requires, and leave space around stems and trunks.
